The Barbour International Motorcycle Jacket was worn by every British National Motorcycle Team from 1936-1977. At the T.T. Isle of Man Race in 1965 over 95% of all competitors wore a Barbour International Motorcycle Jacket, no matter what country they represented. This motorcycle jacket is indeed a part of motorcycle history and can be seen on many of the all time greats. Sammy Miller, Phil Reed and Steve McQueen to name a few.

Motorcyclists have sworn by their Barbour Internationals for decades. During WW II the Barbour Jacket became the official Submarine Commanders coat and on the battle fields of Europe many a soldier prepared to defend Queen and country proudly wearing their Barbour.

Those who wear them swear by them. Heavyweight Wax Cotton and pure Cotton lining provide ultimate weather-beating versatility, while all the features are there for a purpose.

Barbour’s iconic motorcycle jacket, the International, was created in 1936 and became the biker jacket of choice through the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Staying true to that heritage, the International Original is constructed in a heavyweight 8oz Sylkoil waxed cotton, offering a stylish matte finish and road-ready protection. Its robust front zip sits beneath a stud-fastening storm fly front, and the funnel collar is lined with corduroy for insulation and a luxurious feel against the skin. The lightweight cotton lining carries the signature Barbour tartan and is studded to take the optional Warm Pile Lining, for added versatility.

Traditional biker jacket details include the buckle-fastening throat strap, adjustable studded cuffs, a stiffened waist belt and the trademark four studded pockets – one of which is the authentic slanted map pocket, designed to give easy access while riding. Part of the World Tour collection, the International Original is available in classic Black with the infamous Barbour International logo to the chest.

  1. Full Circle...... Review by kluoto

The first mc gear I bought in '79 was Barbour. Over the years I've had Langlitz, Aerostich, FXRG and Schott (current leather jacket).

I just received my Barbour. Got caught in a PNW thunderstorm and stayed dry as a bone on my Buell S3T. I'd forgotten how versatile this jacket is. Absolutely love it!

I have another opinion about motorcycle clothing. First..armor and leather is wonderful when you are sliding on a closed race track at 80-100 mph headed for some hay bails. On the street, the rider's enemy is BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA. The thing you hit before you stop sliding is coming very quickly and that is what hurts you. Bind yourself up in one of those 3 inch thick ballistic nylon gorilla suits if you want. I want protection from wind sun and rain and a degree of comfort allowing me a clear head. I will take the Barbour jacket for style -utility and comfort. It is one of those iconic articles of clothing that beats them all. LAPD motor squad retired (Posted on 3/31/2011)

  4. THE BEST Review by jspina@jobson.com

Pricey? Yep. True to fit? slightly tightly. And...worth every cent the first time you get going in a soaking. PS. No jacket looks more stylish. Take my word for it. I do the style thing for a living. (Posted on 12/19/2009)
